Resiliency + Waterfronts
No time to waste. Flooding from rivers, oceans, and storms; excessive heat; wildfires; poor air quality; declining public health; biodiversity loss; and the disproportionate effects of all of these threats on socially vulnerable communities. Climate changes and waterfront landscapes present some of the most complex and dynamic challenges today. As landscape architects, we can meet these challenges by embracing change, through researching, modeling, and testing new technologies, and by integrating climate solutions into green, lush, environmentally adapted, and regionally appropriate landscapes. We can do this on the most impacted and robust of urban sites, or the most delicate of environmental places–all the while creating spaces for people, wildlife, and plant communities to thrive.
